InterCIDEC Awards 7th edition Jury meeting

Last Thursday October 20 took place at the facilities of Beltá Frajumar the jury meeting of the International Design Competition Contract Environments, InterCIDEC Awards where renowned professionals in interior design, architecture, hotel industry executives and media, met to evaluate the proposals of participating projects and choose by vote the 3 finalists awarded in this seventh edition, focused on the “Design of a Rooftop for a hotel”, one of the most demanded current architectural trends that originated in New York City and has taken a great prominence and importance in European capitals in recent years as leisure spaces.

The jury was made up of prestigious international figures such as: Javier Catalán ( General Manager of Zenit Hoteles), Cécile Bardin (Interior Architect, President of Mediterranean Region UNAID), Isabela Claramunt ( Interior Design Manger of AC Hoteles & Marriott), Nieves Contreras (Creative Director and design in Lladró), Pilar Marcos (Director and editor of the magazine Diseño Interior), Josecho Vélaz (President of the Navarre Delegation COAVN), Estela Blan (Founder and CEO de Matescan Gestión Integral), Alejandro Picatoste (Project manager in Paco Lago Interioriza), Andoni Díaz (dean of CODDB and president of CGCODDI), Malte Eglinger (ACE Arquitectos), Marije Aintz (Founder of Marije Aintz Interiorismo) and Manuel Díaz (Architect, Winner of the sixth edition of the InterCIDEC Awards).

The day began with a presentation of the competition and a networking session where impressions were shared on topics such as sustainability, materials, market trends, innovation, etc.

The jury then began to review in detail and evaluate the projects presented, noting the scores obtained according to the evaluation criteria of the competition in the scoring table.

Nieves Contreras, Creative Director at Lladró "The Rooftop is a trend in big cities like London, New York or Hong Kong that allows you to enjoy incredible views and will continue to grow in the coming years".

The challenge of this edition was the design and conceptualization of a 200m2 roofed terrace space for a hotel, complying with the specifications of accessibility, sustainability, aesthetics, etc. indicated in the competition rules.

With the participation of projects from 8 countries such as Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia and France, InterCIDEC has consolidated itself as the reference platform in the Contract channel to discover and promote new talents in interior design, as well as contributing to the hotel sector by providing new solutions and innovative proposals to meet market needs.

After reviewing each of the project reports and panels, the jury individually recorded the scores given to each project and then the voting and technical debate took place to choose the 3 most interesting design proposals.

The criteria for evaluating the projects presented were based on fundamental aspects: conceptual proposal, level of innovation, added and differential value, accessibility, level of aesthetics and products used. Finally, for the idea of a space of social and cultural reference of the environment and an optimal realization and design, the jury named a winning project and two runner-up prizes that will be made public on the day of the awards ceremony.

Awards Gala in Bilbao

The awards ceremony will be held next Thursday, November 10 at 18:00h in the emblematic cultural center Azkuna Zentroa Alhóndiga Bilbao where the names of the winning projects will be officially announced and the awards and recognition will be given to their authors.

During the event, an honorable mention will be given to the interior design studio “Cuarto Interior” in recognition of its excellent track record in the sector in the development of major interior design projects and the architect Michele Corbani, founder of the Ilmiodesign studio, will give a presentation to talk about his work philosophy and his latest outstanding projects.
