InterCIDEC Awards 2017
The InterCIDEC 2017 awards ceremony took place in the central agora of Feria Habitat Valencia next to NUDE. After starting with a video summary explaining what the second edition of the International Contract Environment Design Competition consisted of. Francisco Juan Ortiz (CEO Beltá & Frajumar) was given the opportunity to thank sponsors, collaborators and of course participants for making this second edition a reality.
Next, the talk by international designer Diego Gronda (Studio Gronda), an architect and interior designer with more than 20 years of experience who has collaborated with some of the most influential hotel operators, such as Virgin Hotels, Nobu Hospitality, Ritz-Carlton, was presented. , InterContinental Hotels, Hyatt and Mandarin Oriental, among many others. Highlighting the transformation that is happening in the hospitality sector, placing the user experience as the central axis.
Awarded Projects
The winning project in the professional category went to Jesus Torné for the Cosmópolis project for its sophisticated design, putting different cultures in dialogue, using references to historical, architectural and cultural elements of life, finally resulting in an integrated and harmonious set of all its elements.
The winning project in the student category went to Víctor Manuel Mollá, for the TRIVISIÓN project, for his research into the interrelation of sensations with the immediate environment. A room that allows the user to vary between the essence of sensitive materials. is. Mr. Juan Bernardo Dolores, President of the Ibero-American Council of Interior Designers, presented the award.
First prize went to Óscar Sangines and María del Mar Tomás, for the Coop House project. A project inspired by nature itself, replicating a vault that resembles the section of a bamboo pole. New prototype of a hotel room that is inserted within the market called glamping, offering users the possibility of enjoying the most intimate contact with nature, without losing the conditions of well-being and comfort. José Vicente Gonzálex, President of the Fair and Vice President of the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations, CEOE, presented it. He received the Gonzalo Terol award, because the winners were from Mexico and it was impossible to come.
The second prize was awarded to Ofelia Sirvent and María José Durá for the Per Se project. A space created for the development of the 5 senses, where it aims to make the visitor to this hotel feel like a life experience, a room to dream. Where nature abounds and fills the space, giving a feeling of spaciousness, creating an interior backdrop and connection with the elements. Amparo Balbastre, manager of the CDICV (College of Interior Designers of the Valencian Community), presented the second prize.
The third prize was awarded to Vicente Armando Ruíz for the Gravity Zero project. For the sensation of floating, staying suspended in the air, a sensation that is fully linked in our mind to rest and relaxation. Juan Miguel Zornoza, deputy mayor of Yecla, presented it.
The jury’s special mention went to the students Mari Carmen Ortín and Lidia Cubero for the project Room with Views.
For creating a work in which simplicity and design predominate as a basis for the furniture and distribution, making the exterior landscape part of the “decoration” of the room. Presented by Francisco Bernabéu, manager of Puertas Castalla.
Prior to the awards ceremony, they wanted to pay tribute to Francisco Juan Martinez and Carmen Ortiz, founders of the company in 1967, as this year marks the 50th anniversary of the creation of Beltá & Frajumar, by presenting them with an honorary award.
